Master in Clinical Research Program – launch of a novel Master’s degree program by Dresden International University including the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research course offered by Harvard Medical School
HISTORY
"Principles and Practice of Clinical Research was established at Harvard Medical School by Prof. Felipe Fregni to offer training in clinical research and create in a global network of clinical researchers. PPCR Dresden was launched in 2012 under the guidance of Ben Illigens and Timo Siepmann. Ben Illigens went to Charite Berlin and is now a faculty member at Harvard Medical School. Timo Siepmann received a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation ("Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft") to perform a clinical research fellowship at Harvard Medical School in 2010 and 2011. There, Dr. Illigens and Dr. Siepmann decided to build a bridge between Boston and Dresden. They established the first PPCR site center in Germany at Carl Gustav Carus Medical School, Dresden with the unrestricted support from Prof. Reichmann and Prof. Albrecht. PPCR-students from 2012 in Dresden were extremely succesfull in the course. However the outstanding commitment of the Carl Gustav Carus Students has not been restricted to the course; international research collaborations have been established and a clinical research fellowship exchange program between Harvard and Carus is currently being developed. This succesfull start into the future of learning is constantly being improved through the ideas of both our staff and students."
